Dr. Douglas Asks some important questions of interest to Cedar Rapids residents - Chiropractor Cedar Rapids Dr. Douglas Asks...

Can those with osteoporosis get chiropractic care?
Of course. When developing a care plan, we consider the unique circumstances of each patient. There are many ways we can adjust the spine. The chiropractic method we select will be best suited to your age, size and unique situation.
What's the difference between chiropractic and medicine?
Medical treatment focuses on the disease or the symptom. Chiropractic focuses on the person with the disease or the symptom. Medical treatment usually involves changing blood chemistry. Chiropractic involves restoring nervous system integrity. Medical doctors prescribe medicine. Chiropractors adjust the spine—a common source of nervous system interference.

Our Techniques

We use a number of highly-effective adjusting approaches to help improve spinal biomechanics and reduce nervous system interference. The approach we use is based on our judgment and years of experience.

The primary adjusting techniques we use include:

Chiropractic adjusting technique.

Applied Kinesiology

Testing the strength of various muscles of your body help us find structural, chemical and mental problems revealed by a weak muscle… read more»

DNFT Directional Non-Force Technique

Directional Non-Force Technique methods utilize a diagnostic system for subluxation analysis consisting of gentle challenging and a unique "Reactive Leg Reflex.™"  This testing allows the body itself to indicate the locations and directions of misaligned structures that are producing nerve interference. Gentle and directionally specific thumb impulses provide long lasting corrections to both bony and soft tissue structures.

Dynamic Muscle Balancing (my own technique)

Muscles hold your joints in place.  If a muscle is too tight, it can pull a joint out of place.  If a muscle is too loose it can allow the joint to slip out of place.  By using Dynamic Muscle Balancing we are able to balance the tight and loose muscles to better enable them to hold the joints in place.  This technique allows us to correct spinal and extremity misalignments, improve athletic performance and decrease chance of injury.

TBM Total Body Modification

Total Body Modification is a technique that is used to find the organ or area of the body that is stressed and correct the problem by restoring balance to the nervous system.

In other words, TBM addresses and corrects Functional Physiology (how the body works).  It allows the power that made the body to correct the body and allow it to heal.

TBM has taken this philosophy and explored the possibilities of the body's inherent ability of self-regeneration.  TBM  demonstrates that if the right thing is done to the right body at the right time and the right way --- miracles happen!

Allergy RESET - Rapid Environmental Sensitivity Elimination Technique  (my own technique)

Rapid Environmental Sensitivity Elimination Technique uses cranial adjustments, relief of stress on the Vagus Nerve and balancing the bodies energy meridians for rapid reduction and elimination of allergies.  I have developed this technique over several years because by eliminating the causes of spinal subluxations we are able to restore the body to optimal health more rapidly.

Bio Cranial Technique

Not only is your skull made up of many bones, their ability to move can profoundly affect your health which is why we rely on this powerful technique. read more»
